Geometric Algebra Word Problem Quiz/Game
This game focuses on solving word problems involving Geometry. Solving geometry word problems with algebra requires a blend of visual spatial reasoning and equation-solving skills. The goal is usually to find a missing dimension (like length or radius) by using a known geometric formula. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to Play the Geometric Algebra Explorer Game

  1. Look at the Problem: Read the problem carefully. Solve it and select one of the answers.
  2. Check Your Geometry: If you selected the right answer, it will be highlighted in green. If you are wrong, it will be highlighted in red and the correct answer will be highlighted in green. A hint will be given to help you find the correct answer.
  3. Get a New Problem: Click “Next Question” for a new problem.
Your score is tracked, showing how many you’ve gotten right.
  4. Finish Game When you have completed 10 questions, your final score will be displayed.

How to Solve Geometric Algebra Word Problems
Step 1: Draw and Label
Draw the shape and label t
he sides using your variable (x).

Step 2: Select the Correct Formula
Identify what the problem is giving you. Is it the distance around (Perimeter), the space inside (Area), or the tilt of the lines (Angles)?

Key Geometry Algebraic Formulas:
Perimeter ($P$): For a rectangle, P = 2L + 2W.
Area ($A$): For a rectangle, A = lw; for a triangle, \(A = \frac{1}{2}bh\).
Angles: Complementary sum to \(90^\circ\); Supplementary sum to \(180^\circ\).
Pythagorean Theorem: \(a^2 + b^2 = c^2\).

Step 3: Set Up the Equation
Plug your labels from Step 1 into the formula from Step 2.
Example: If the perimeter of that rectangle is 26, your equation is: 2(w+3) + 2(w) = 26

Step 4: Solve and Interpret
Solve for the variable, then check if the question asks for the variable (w) or the other dimension (L).
