How to play the Fraction Identifier Worksheet/Game

1. Observe the Shape
   Each round, a new shape will appear in the center of the screen—either a Circle (like a pizza) or a Rectangle (like a chocolate bar).
   Count the total parts: Look at the lines dividing the shape. This tells you the denominator (the bottom number of the fraction).
   Count the colored parts: Look at how many of those sections are blue. This tells you the numerator (the top number of the fraction).
   

2. Choose Your Answer
   Below the shape, you will see a grid of buttons with different fractions:
   1/2 (Half)
   1/3 (One-third)
   1/4 (One-fourth/Quarter)
   2/3 (Two-thirds)
   3/4 (Three-fourths)
   Click the button that correctly describes the colored area.
   

3. Feedback and Scoring
   If you are correct: You’ll hear a high-pitched “ding,” the message “Correct! Well done!” will appear in green, and your score will increase by 10 points. A new puzzle will load automatically after one second.
   If you are incorrect: You’ll hear a low “buzz,” and the game will tell you what the correct fraction was in red. Don’t worry—you can try again immediately.
   

How to identify fractions

1. Identify the “Whole”
   The first thing you must do is determine what the complete object is. Is it one circle? One square? One set of objects? This is your foundation.
   

2. Count the Total Equal Parts (The Denominator)
   Count how many equal-sized pieces the whole has been divided into. This number becomes your denominator (the bottom number).
   If a rectangle is cut into 4 equal boxes, your denominator is 4.
   If a circle is sliced into 8 equal wedges, your denominator is 8.
   

3. Count the Specific Parts (The Numerator)
   Now, count only the parts that are shaded, colored, or “chosen.” This number becomes your numerator (the top number).
   If 3 out of those 4 rectangle boxes are blue, your numerator is 3.
   The fraction is identified as 3/4 (three-fourths).

Remember these two terms:

Denominator	Bottom	The total number of parts in the whole.
