Fractions, Decimals & Percents Quiz/Game
Welcome to Fractions, Decimals & Percents Game. This game focus on the mathematical relationship between the three formats. The game presents one “Challenge” value (e.g., a Fraction) and requires the student to type in the matching Decimal and Percentage. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to play the Fractions, Decimals & Percents Game

  1. Identify the Challenge
At the center of the screen, you will see a Challenge Value. This value is randomly shown in one of three formats:
    Fraction: A part of a whole (e.g., 1/2)
    Decimal: A number with a decimal point (e.g., 0.5)
    Percentage: A number out of 100 (e.g., 50%)

  2. Enter the Conversions
You must fill in the two empty boxes to match the challenge value.
If the challenge is a Fraction (3/4): Type the decimal (0.75) in the first box and the percentage (75) in the second.
    Formatting:
For fractions, use the forward slash (e.g., 1/4). The fractions must be simplified.
For percentages, you can just type the number; the game will handle the symbol for you.

Conversion Lab: This game will help you remember the relationships between the common “Benchmark” values.

Fraction (x/y) Decimal Percentage (%) Common Name
1/1 1.0 100% One Whole
1/2 0.5 50% One Half
1/4 0.25 25% One Quarter
3/4 0.75 75% Three Quarters
1/5 0.2 20% One Fifth
2/5 0.4 40% Two Fifths
4/5 0.8 80% Four Fifths
1/10 0.1 10% One Tenth
3/10 0.3 30% Three Tenths
7/10 0.7 70% Seven Tenths

The Conversion
If you get stuck during a round, use these conversions to find the answer without the table:
Decimal ⇆ Percent (The “Two-Step” Shift)
This is the easiest conversion because it only involves moving the decimal point.
Decimal to Percent: Move the decimal point two places to the right and add the % sign. (Mathematically, you are multiplying by 100).
Example: 0.07 → 7%
Percent to Decimal: Move the decimal point two places to the left and remove the % sign. (Mathematically, you are dividing by 100).
Example: 85% → 0.85

Fraction ⇆ Decimal (The “Division”)
Fraction to Decimal: Divide the Top (numerator) by the Bottom (denominator).
Example: 4/5 is 4 ÷ 5. Since 5 doesn’t go into 4, think of it as 4.0 ÷ 5, which equals 0.8.
Decimal to Fraction: Say the decimal out loud using its place value name.
Example: 0.3 is “three-tenths,” so write it as 3/10.
Example: 0.25 is “twenty-five hundredths,” which is 25/100, then simplify to 1/4.

Fraction ⇆ Percent (The “Target 100”)
Percentages always describe a part out of 100.
Fraction to Percent: Try to change the denominator to 100 using multiplication.
Example: 3/20. If you multiply 20 × 5, you get 100. Do the same to the top: 3 × 5 = 15. So, 15/100 is 15%.
Percent to Fraction: Put the percent number over 100 and simplify.
Example: 60% → 60/100. Divide both by 20 to get 3/5.

  1. Build Your Streak
This game is all about consistency.
The Streak Counter: Located at the top, this tracks how many correct conversions you’ve made in a row.
The Penalty: If you get an answer wrong, your streak will drop back to 0.

  2. Learn from Mistakes
If you miss a question, don’t worry. The game will pause and display the correct values in the feedback area:
    Oops! Correct was: 1/4 | 0.25 | 25%
Take a second to memorize that connection before the next round begins automatically.
