How to identify pennies, nickels, and dimes by their image, name, or value?

  1. Penny (1 cent):
Image: Features a portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the front and the Lincoln Memorial on the back.
  2. Nickel (5 cents):
Image: Features a portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the front and Monticello (Jefferson’s home) on the back.
  3. Dime (10 cents):
Image: Features a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt on the front and an image of an olive branch, a torch, and an oak branch on the back.

For a classroom activity, you could create flashcards or posters with pictures of each coin, its name, and its value. Encourage students to practice identifying these coins by looking at the pictures and recalling the names and values associated with each one.

Hands-on activities, such as using play money or real coins, can also enhance the learning experience and help reinforce the identification of pennies, nickels, and dimes
