How to solve the area of a rectangle word problem?

  1. Read and understand the problem. Identify the information given about the rectangle (length, width, or area).
Look for keywords: Words like “area,” “cover,” “space,” “total,” or “dimensions” often indicate an area problem.
Identify what you need to find: Is it the length, width, or the total area of the rectangle?

  2. Sketch the rectangle, if necessary, and extract the information.
Write down the given measurements: Length and width (or sometimes area) values should be clearly noted.
Make sure all measurements are in the same unit (e.g., centimeters, meters, inches).
