Description of the geometric terms
Circle
A perfectly round shape. It has NO sides and NO corners.
Square
A shape with 4 sides that are all the same length, and 4 corners.
Triangle
A shape with exactly 3 straight sides and 3 corners (vertices).
Rectangle
A shape with 4 sides and 4 corners. The opposite sides are equal in length.
Side
A straight line that forms the outer edge of a shape.
Corner
The point where two sides of a shape meet. It is also called a vertex.
Pentagon
A polygon with five sides.
Polygon
A closed 2D shape made entirely of straight sides.
Hexagon
A polygon with six sides.
Octagon
A polygon with eight sides.
