Subtracting integers can be simplified by converting the problem into an addition problem.
Here are the steps and rules to follow:

Rule for Subtracting Integers

  1. Convert the Subtraction to Addition:
    Change the subtraction problem into an addition problem by adding the opposite of the integer being subtracted.

  2. Apply Addition Rules:
    Use the rules for adding integers to find the result.
    Same Sign: Add absolute values and keep the common sign.
    Different Signs: Subtract the smaller absolute value from the larger absolute value, and assign the sign of the larger absolute value.
