How to Write Fractions in Word Form
When writing a fraction in words, you treat the two numbers differently:
The Numerator (the top number) is written as a cardinal number (the normal way you count, like one, two, three, four).
The Denominator (the bottom number) is written as an ordinal number (the order of things, like third, fourth, fifth, tenth).
    Step 1: Write the Numerator
Start by writing the top number as you would normally say it.
In the fraction 3/5, the numerator is 3. You write: three
Step 2: Write the Denominator (The Tricky Part)
Write the bottom number using its ordinal name.
Denominator, Ordinal Word (Singular), Ordinal Word (Plural)
    2, half, halves
    3, third, thirds
    4, fourth, fourths
    5, fifth, fifths
    6, sixth, sixths
    7, seventh, sevenths
    8, eighth, eighths
    9, ninth, ninths
    10, tenth, tenths
    11, eleven, elevenths
    12, twelve, twelfths
Step 3: Check the Plural vs. Singular Rule
This is the most important step for the denominator:
If the numerator is 1, use the singular form.
If the numerator is 2 or greater, use the plural form (add an “s”).

    Examples:
\(\frac{1}{2}\) is read as “one half."
\(\frac{2}{3}\) is read as “two thirds."
\(\frac{4}{5}\) is read as “four fifths."
\(\frac{8}{15}\) is read as “eight fifteenths.”
