To identify the part and whole in a percentage, look for keywords: “is” is usually the part, and “of” is usually the whole. The part is the quantity you are looking for, while the whole is the total amount, and the percent is the value out of 100.
You can use the formula
Part = Percentage/100 × Whole.
to solve for the missing value.

Step 1: The part is 28.77 and the whole is 58.
