Objective:

  • I know whether an element is a member of a set.
  • How many elements in a given set?
     

Examples:
∈ denotes “is an element of’ or “is a member of” or “belongs to”.
∉ denotes “is not an element of” or “is not a member of” or “does not belong to”
 
For the set A = {1, 3, 5}
a) 1 ∈ A
b) 2 ∉ A
 
If A is the set of positive integers less than 12 then
the number of elements is set A is 11
If Q is the set of letters in the word ‘HELLO’ then
the numbers of elements in Q is 4.

c) S is the set of months with 31 days

d) T = {x : x is a factor of 100}

e) U is the set of letters in the word “GOOGLE”

f) G = {Ø}

g) H = {0}

h) I = Ø

i) J = { null }

j) A is the set of odd numbers between 18 and 30.
