A coordinate plane (or Cartesian plane) is a two-dimensional surface formed by the intersection of a horizontal-axis and a vertical-axis, used for graphing points and figures. These perpendicular lines meet at a central point called the origin, creating four distinct areas known as quadrants.

How to Play the Coordinate Plane Game
Mission Selection
When the game starts, you must choose your training path:
Point Recon: You are shown a green target on a grid. You must identify the correct (x, y) coordinates from the options provided.
Manual Entry: Identify target coordinates. You must key in the answer including the brackets.
Quadrant Scan: You are given a coordinate pair, such as (-3, 4). You must identify which of the four quadrants it belongs to.

How to Play
Once a mission begins, you will face 10 consecutive vectors to identify.

  1. Identify the Target
In Point Recon: Look at the grid. The horizontal line is the x-axis and the vertical line is the y-axis. Count the units from the center (origin) to find the point.
In Manual Entry: Similar to Point Recon, but you need key in the answers.
In Quadrant Scan: Use the signs of the numbers to determine the location:
    Quadrant I: (+, +)
    Quadrant II: (-, +)
    Quadrant III: (-, -)
    Quadrant IV: (+, -)

2.Select Your Answer
Click one of the four buttons at the bottom.
Correct: The button turns green, and you see “TARGET ACQUIRED."
Incorrect: The button turns red, and the system reveals the correct coordinates so you can learn from the error.
For Manual Entry: Key in your answer. Remember the brackets.

3.Advance & Progress
Click “NEXT VECTOR ➜” to move to the next challenge. Watch the emerald progress bar at the top to see how close you are to completing the mission.

Controls & Exit
Score: Your “Vector Points” are tracked in the top right corner.
Abort Mission: If you need to switch modes or restart, click the “Abort Mission (Exit)” button at any time to return to the main menu.
Mission Complete: After 10 questions, you will receive a final accuracy report. Click “RETURN TO HQ” to start a new round.

The Coordinate Plane
The Framework: Axes and Origin
The plane is built on two intersecting lines:
The X-Axis: The horizontal line (left to right). Numbers increase to the right and decrease to the left.
The Y-Axis: The vertical line (up and down). Numbers increase as you go up and decrease as you go down.
The Origin: The exact center where the two lines cross. Its address is always (0, 0).

Ordered Pairs
Every location on the plane is written as an ordered pair: (x, y). The order is vital—X always comes before Y.
To find a point like (3, -2):
Start at the Origin (0, 0).
Move along the X-axis first: Since it’s 3, move 3 units to the right.
Move along the Y-axis second: Since it’s -2, move 2 units down.
Mark your point.
Cadet Tip: Think of it like a ladder. You have to walk across the floor to the ladder (X) before you can climb up or down it (Y).

The Quadrants
The two axes divide the plane into four regions called Quadrants. They are numbered I through IV in a counter-clockwise direction:
Quadrant I: Positive (+): Positive (+): Top-Right
Quadrant II: Negative (-): Positive (+): Top-Left
Quadrant III: Negative (-): Negative (-): Bottom-Left
Quadrant IV Positive (+): Negative (-): Bottom-Right
