Addition Lesson 1
Count out loud and use your fingers
This method is simple and works for higher single digit numbers when the student is ready for larger numbers. 
1) Identify the large number as the starting point.
2) Count the small number on your fingers to see how many to add.
3) Count up to the large number (or say the large number to yourself).
4) Count up on your fingers until you use all your fingers.
Make sure you begin on your fingers one digit AFTER you say the starting number.

Subtraction Lesson 1
Count out loud and use your fingers
1) Identify the large number as the starting point.
2) Count the small number on your fingers to see how many to subtract.
3) Say the large number to yourself (or count down from 10 until you reach the large number).
4) Continue down on your fingers until you tap all your fingers.
Make sure you begin on your fingers one digit AFTER you say the starting number.
