Add Hundreds Quiz/Game
Learning to add hundreds, for example 300 + 600, is a useful strategy to strengthen place value understanding and improve mental math skills. When adding whole hundreds, you can treat the hundreds just like single-digit numbers. The key is to focus on the hundreds digit and then simply remember to put the two zeros back on the end. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
This game randomly generates three types of problems: standard addition (400+300=__), and missing addend problems (500+__=800 and __+300=700). It will also include a timer, a scoring system, and clear feedback to help you master this skill.

How to “Add Whole Hundreds”
Step 1: Ignore the Zeros
When you have a problem like 400+300, you are dealing with whole hundreds. Temporarily ignore the two zeros in both numbers.
400 becomes 4
300 becomes 3
The problem turns into a simple single-digit addition problem:
4+3=__
Step 2: Solve the Basic Addition
Solve the simplified problem:
4+3=7
This means your answer will be 7 hundreds.
Step 3: Put the Zeros Back
Since the original numbers were in the hundreds place, the answer must also be in the hundreds place. Add the two zeros back to the result from Step 2.
7 becomes 700
So, the final answer is:
400+300=700
