How to Add Whole Tens and Ones
    Add Tens and Ones

Every two-digit number is made of tens and ones.
Whole tens are numbers like 10, 20, 30, and so on. They represent a full group of ten.
Ones are the numbers from 1 to 9. They represent single units.
When you add a whole ten and a one, you are putting them into their correct place value slots.

    Step-by-Step Example
    Let’s add 20+5.
Identify the Tens. The number 20 is a whole ten. It has a 2 in the tens place, which means it’s made of two groups of ten.
Identify the Ones. The number 5 is a one. It has a 5 in the ones place.
Combine Them. Now, you just need to combine the two. The tens stay in the tens place, and the ones stay in the ones place.
You have two tens and five ones.
Putting them together gives you the number 25.
So, 20+5=25. It’s like putting two tens blocks and five single blocks together to make a new number.
This same process works for any whole tens and ones:
    40+6=46
    70+2=72
