Add Objects Game
To add using objects, group the items for each number, combine all the groups into one larger group, and then count the total number of items in the combined group to find the sum. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
 
In this game, you will count objects, fill in the blanks to create an addition equation and then find the sum by counting or recalling math facts. You can indicate the largest value for the sum to adjust the difficulty level. If you give a wrong answer, the game will give you the correct solution.

How to Play the Add Objects Game
The game will show two sets of objects. Your task is to add them.
Here’s how to play:

  1. Maximum Sum Enter the maximum value for the sum.
  2. Timed Option: Check the timer if you want to enable the 60 second timer. Click “Start Game”.
  3. Look at the Problem: You will be given two sets of objects.
  4. Enter Your Answer: Count the objects and fill in the blanks to complete the equation.br>
  5. Check Your Work: Click the Check button (or press the Enter key). The game will tell you if you’re correct. If you are wrong, you will be shown how to get the correct answer.
  6. Get a New Problem: Click the Next button for a new problem.
    Your score is tracked at the top, showing how many you’ve gotten right out of the total you’ve tried.
  7. Back to Menu Click “Back to Menu” to restart the game.

  8. Count the individual objects in each group to find the number of addends.
  9. Create an addition equation by writing the numbers you counted in the blanks, __ + __ = __.
  10. Find the sum by either counting all the objects together or by recalling a math fact to complete the equation.

     
    Example
    Count the objects: You have a picture of 3 apples and a picture of 2 apples.
    Write the equation: 3 + 2 = __.
    Find the sum: You can count the apples together to get 5, or you might already know that 3 + 2 = 5. Therefore, 3 + 2 = 5.
