Introduction to Word Problems

Word problems in 5th grade often involve addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and basic algebra.

1. Read the Problem Carefully
   Underline key numbers and keywords (e.g., total, difference, each, remaining).
   Identify what’s being asked (the unknown).
   

2. Identify the Operation(s) Needed
   Use keywords to determine the math operation:
