Science Experiment: Solutions and Suspensions
Things needed:
1. 4 plastic glasses
2. 1 teaspoon of salt
3. 1 teaspoon of sugar
4. 1 teaspoon of sand
5. 1 teaspoon of cooking oil
6. A plastic spoon or wooden stick for stirring

Step 1: Fill four glasses half full of water.
Step 2: Number each of the glasses 1-4.

Step 3: In glass number 1, add 1 teaspoon of salt and stir.
Did the salt disappear?
Is salt soluble in water?

Step 4: In glass number 2, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and stir.
Did the sugar disappear?
Is sugar soluble in water?

Step 5: In glass number 3, add 1 teaspoon of sand and stir.
Did the sand disappear?
Is sand soluble in water?

Step 6: In glass number 4, add 1 teaspoon of oil and stir.
Did the oil disappear?
Is oil soluble in water?
