How to round a multi-digit number?
To round a multi-digit number, you need to determine the place value you want to round to. The place value refers to the position of a digit in a number. For example, in the number 623, the place value of the digit 2 is the tens place.

To round a number to a certain place value, you need to look at the digit to the right of that place value. If the digit is 5 or greater, you round up, and if it’s less than 5, you round down.

For example, if you want to round the number 3476 to the nearest hundred, you would look at the digit in the tens place, which is 7. Since 7 is greater than or equal to 5, you would round up the hundreds place, so the rounded number is 3500.

Similarly, if you want to round the number 8423 to the nearest thousand, you would look at the digit in the hundreds place, which is 4. Since 4 is less than 5, you would round down the thousands place, so the rounded number is 8000.
