Objective:

  • I know how to solve multi-digit subtraction word problems.

    How to subtract multi-digit numbers?
  1. Arrange the numbers vertically in columns. Make sure that the subtrahend is on top of the minuend and that they line up according to their place values.
  2. Subtract the digits in each column, starting from the rightmost column (the ones column) and working your way to the left.
  3. If the digit in the top number is smaller than the digit in the bottom number, regroup or borrow from the digit in the left column.
