Identify Anions

The following table shows the tests for anions:
Carbonate, Chloride, Bromide, Iodide, Nitrate, Sulfate and Sulfite.

Identifying anions
Testing for anions:
carbonate - add dilute acid, carbon dioxide produced
sulfate - acidify, then add aqueous barium nitrate, white ppt.,
chloride - acidify with dilute nitric acid, then add aqueous silver nitrate, white ppt.,
iodide - acidify with dilute nitric acid, then add aqueous silver nitrate, yellow ppt.,
nitrate - add aqueous sodium hydroxide, then aluminium foil; warm carefully, ammonia produced

Halide Ion Tests
chloride - acidify with dilute nitric acid, then add aqueous silver nitrate, white ppt.,
bromide - acidify with dilute nitric acid, then add aqueous silver nitrate, cream ppt.,
iodide - acidify with dilute nitric acid, then add aqueous silver nitrate, yellow ppt.,
