How to convert a fraction to a percent?
Method 1: Convert to Decimal First

  1. Divide the numerator of the fraction by its denominator to get a decimal.
  2. Multiply the decimal by 100 (or move the decimal point two places to the right).
  3. Add the percent symbol (%) at the end.

Method 2: Multiply by \( \frac{100}{1} \)

  1. Multiply the fraction by \( \frac{100}{1} \).
  2. Simplify the resulting fraction.
  3. Add the percent symbol (%) at the end.

How to convert a fraction to a decimal?

Example: 23/100 = 0.23

How to convert a decimal to a fraction?
In this lesson, we will assume that the decimal is terminating.
Method 1: Read the decimal

  1. Say the decimal out loud, paying attention to the place value of the last digit.
  2. Write as a fraction: The digits after the decimal point become the numerator. The denominator is a power of 10 corresponding to the place value of the last digit.
  3. Reduce the fraction to its simplest form.
    Examples:
    0.8: “eight tenths” → \( \frac{8}{10} \) = \( \frac{4}{5} \)
    0.25: “twenty-five hundredths” → \( \frac{25}{100} \) = \( \frac{1}{4} \)

Method 2: Count decimal places

  1. Count the number of decimal places given in the decimal.
  2. Write the decimal without the point as the numerator.
  3. Write 10, 100, or 1000 etc. as the denominator based on the given decimal places.
  4. Simplify the fraction.
    Examples:
    1 decimal place → 10 (e.g., 0.3 = \( \frac{3}{10} \)
    2 decimal places → 100 (e.g., 0.25 = \( \frac{25}{100} \) = \( \frac{1}{4} \)
