part(c): Because there’s a loss of energy, compared to Diagram A, the block in Diagram B does not fall as far. When using the same reference height, it doesn’t fall to the “0” line, so there should be some gravitational potential energy. The total of gravitational and spring potential energy should be less than the values in Diagram A.
