Solution:
From the table;
5W = 2 × 10W
10W = 2 × 15W
15W = 2 × 20W
This means that

h(n) = n^{2} − n
To find:

Solution:
g(5) = 52 + 5 = 30
h(4) = 42 − 4 = 12
g(5) − h(4) = 30 −12 = 18

14. Correct answer: (A)
Given:
g(n) = n^{2} + n
h(n) = n^{2} − n
To find:
h(m + 1)
Solution:
h(m + 1)
= (m + 1)^{2} − (m + 1)
= m^{2} + 2m + 1 − m − 1
= m^{2} + m
= g(m)

Given:
The selling price of a sweater = $28
The selling price is 40% more than the cost price
Employees can purchase the sweater at 30% off the cost price
To find:
The amount the employees pay for the sweater
Solution:

c + 40% × c = 28
c + 0.4c = 28
1.4c = 28
c = 20
Purchase price = 20 − 30% × 20
= 20 − 0.3 × 20
