Floating needle
This demonstration is about surface tension of water. Usually metal needles sink into water because they have higher density than that of water. However, when it is put horizontally, the pressure exerted by the needle is weaker than the surface tension, so it can float. It can be proved by adding surfactant to water to make the needle sink.
Science Magic 2 - Floating Paperclip!
A fun experiment that will have friends wondering how you did this. The experiment uses surface tension to suspend a paperclip on the surface of water.
